The Sisters School Board has announced three candidates in the search for a new schools superintendent.
On Sunday, the board announced that Dr. Tamara (Brook) MacNamara is a finalist for the position of Superintendent of the Sisters School District and has confirmed that she will participate in the finalist interviews scheduled for May 3 and 4.
Dr. MacNamara is currently a Director at Ruamrudee International School in Bankgok, Thailand. Prior to that she was Director of Student Services for the Corvallis School District from 2006-2008 and Executive Director and Founder of a nonprofit organization, In Harmony, which worked to create a model educational and community program for children waiting adoptive homes in state care from
1993-2005.
She has strong family connections to the Sisters area.
Two other finalist candidates were announced on Friday.
Heather Cordie has been the assistant superintendent in Redmond since 2007. Between 2001 and 2007, she held several administrative positions at the Umatilla-Morrow Educational Service District (ESD), including serving as assistant superintendent and also director of the instructional services department in the Umatilla Morrow ESD.
James Golden is currently the director of programs for children at the High Desert ESD. Prior to that he worked in the Sisters School District from 1996 to 2005. He was the assistant principal of Sisters High School 2003-2005 and principal of Crook County High School from 2005 to 2009.
Board members will be following up next week with site visits and reference checks. Candidates are invited for a second round of interviews on May 3-4. Members of the public are invited to meet the candidates for informal discussions Monday, May 3, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Sisters High School.
