The Outlaws baseball team beat La Pine at home in five innings on Friday, April 23 with a final score of 11-1.
Shane Groth hit an RBI single with a line drive up the middle to score Sisters' first run in the bottom of the second inning. Sisters racked up four more runs in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
La Pine got a run in the top of the fourth to narrow Sisters' lead to 5-1. Sisters answered back with five runs in the bottom of the inning. Highlights were Chris Waters' line drive into left field, which scored two runners, and Erik Carlson's RBI single. At the end of the fourth inning Sisters had extended their lead to 10-1.
Max Stovall led off with a double in the fifth. Hayden Hudson followed with a double deep into left field to score Stovall and end the game due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Groth pitched four innings for the Outlaws and recorded the win. Groth was 2/2 with three RBI for Sisters. Waters was 2/4 and Hudson was 2/2.
"We hit the ball better today," said Coach Steve Hodges. "We had solid pitching from Shane (Groth) and our infield defense was better. Hopefully, this got us mentally and physically ready for our game with Junction City.
On Monday, April 19, the Outlaws lost 4-1 at home to the Elmira Falcons.
Chris Waters drove in Sisters' lone run with a single in the first inning.
Elmira scored one in the first, three in the second and capped their scoring with another run in the fifth.
"We played very poorly and had 11 fly-ball outs," said Hodges.
