News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
On Saturday, May 1, the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce will host a parade down Hood Avenue.
Walk with the animals, talk with the animals. Even dress up in costumes with your animals. You may even ride your animal (where appropriate). And they can walk and talk and dress up with you.
Don't have a pet? Dress up like one or carry a stuffed toy pet.
There is no formality with this parade. You do not need to pre-register. No parade numbers will be needed. The Sisters Pet Parade begins at Hood and Pine promptly at 11 a.m. Jeri Buckmann, chamber events director, will lead the line-up with her dog, Jake.
The parade ends at Village Green Park with pet games and a May Day celebration. Children can make beaded jewelry, a pet friendship bracelet and May baskets. Live flowers for the May baskets will remind us that spring is here.
"We're supporting the Redmond Humane Society," Buckmann said. "If you don't have a pet, they will be here with pets you can adopt. They'll be in the parade wearing an 'Adopt Me' sign."
