Central Oregon artists make up a big swatch of the rich fabric of talent showcased on OPB's Oregon Art Beat, seen each week on OPB.
On May 20, Oregon Art Beat will visit Sisters to celebrate those artists.
The public is invited to a special artful evening at Sisters Movie House on Thursday, May 20. Guests will preview a special Oregon Art Beat retrospective with clips of some of the extraordinary Central Oregon artists featured on the program over the past 11 years. Among them: Kathy Deggendorfer; J. Chester (Skip) Armstrong; and Dennis McGregor.
Singer/songwriter Beth Wood, winner of the 2006 Sisters Folk Festival Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest, will perform some of her favorites as well as new work from an album to be released next fall.
Guests will also get a behind-the-scenes perspective as the Oregon Art Beat crew films Wood's performance for broadcast next season.
The Sisters Folk Festival will announce its 2010 lineup and unveil artwork for the new festival poster by Dennis McGregor.
Showtimes are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Sisters Movie House. Limited seating is available; it is advised to purchase tickets early. Tickets are $25 per person. Call Sisters Movie House at 541-549-8833.
There are also a limited number of special tickets including the 7 p.m. show and admittance to a private "after party" at Thyme at FivePine for $50 per person. Guests will meet Oregon Art Beat hosts Jeff Douglas and KC Cowan, enjoy light food and drink, and music by Brad Tisdel, Dennis McGregor, Beth Wood and other Central Oregon musicians.
This Sisters Country event is presented in collaboration with Sisters Movie House, FivePine Lodge, Thyme and the Sisters Folk Festival.
