News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
McKenzie Cooper drove in two runs with two out in the bottom of the seventh to give the Sisters High School's varsity softball team a 13-12 victory over the Midwestern League champion Thursday, May 19.
Cooper's third hit of the game drove in teammates Dara Kosanke and Marisa Calavan.
The victory was the No. 4-ranked Outlaws' 21st of the season as the Sky-Em League co-champions were tuning up for their May 25 state playoff game at Baker.
A victory at Baker will move Sisters into the third round of playoffs and give the locals a home game on Friday, May 28.
In conditions more suited for a Weather Channel storm report, the Outlaws scored three runs in the first, four in the fourth, two each in the third, fifth and seventh innings.
In addition to her three hits, Cooper had four runs batted in on the day. Kosanke had four hits to extend her consecutive game-hitting streak to 26. She also scored four times. And picked up her 19th pitching victory of the season.
All told, the Outlaws collected 18 base hits with Taylor Walker getting three, and Brooklyn Walker, Carly Kreminski and Calavan with two apiece. M.J. Schulte also had a key run batted in for the Outlaws.
