Wallace Stanley Bailey passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, peacefully at his home in Sisters. He was 75 years old.
Wallace was born in Albany on May 7, 1935 to parents Herbert and Martha Bailey. He also had two brothers, Stanley Bailey and Omar Bailey, who preceded him in death.
Wally worked most of his life in the lumber industry, moving to Sisters in 1989 where he went to work in Bend for The Truax Corporation, later going to work for Llama Woods Farms, a job he enjoyed tremendously before he retired.
Wally had a great love for the outdoors. There was not a trail that he did not hike or a lake or river he did not fish. He shared a special love of being in the mountains and hunting with his daughter Debra. He also enjoyed working in his cactus gardens and spending time with his wife and good friends. He never met a stranger.
Wally is survived by his wife, Nancy, and children Debra Shingler, Norman Bailey, Terry Underhill and Michelle Gibbens. He was also loved by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As quoted by his grandson Brendon, "It is truly an honor to have him as my grandpa."
Wally had a special way of touching people's lives. It was an honor and a privilege to have known him. He will be missed by many.
