News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Davis Frame Company, Inc. timber frame home designer and manufacturer located in Claremont, New Hampshire, has announced that one of their timber frame homes in Sisters has earned a Platinum Earth Advantage certification.
Doug and Leanne Smith of Central Oregon Timber Frame (representatives of Davis Frame) worked on designing the home to be able to maintain a comfortable temperature based on its inherent structure and design and use renewable energy for its power needs. They also used building materials that were recycled and durable. The timber frame home is off-grid, and all electricity is supplied from batteries powered by photovoltaic panels. Solar hot water panels supply hot water for in-floor heating to the main floor and the upstairs bathroom. The house uses less than 500 gallons of propane a year.
