Seven Outlaws on all-league teams

The Outlaws had seven players earn all-league recognition this year and three of them were first-team selections.

Seniors Chase Kleint, Max Stovall and Brandon Morgan all were voted first-team all-league.

Kleint was named first-team all-league outfielder and was Sisters' best all-around athlete. Chase was the Outlaws' lead-off batter and ended the season with a .410 batting average.

"Chase is the spark that gets our team going," said Coach Steve Hodges. "He has great speed and range and is a threat every time he gets up to the plate. He can hit for average and hit for power. He hits it in the gaps, and when he gets on base he makes things happen."

Stovall was first-team all-league utility player and played catcher for the better part of the season. Stovall was Sisters' leading RBI player and brought in 42 runs for the Outlaws.

Hodges said, "Max worked hard and did a great job of blocking behind the plate. He was also our most powerful hitter."

Morgan was named first-team all-league third base and was selected for his great work on defense.

"Brandon is considered the best third baseman in the league," said Hodges. "He made tough play after tough play for us. He has great range and athleticism and is also a great leader. He's a great motivator and was a positive contribution to the team. He's appreciated by both his teammates and the coaching staff."

Seniors Hayden Hudson and Jacob Rocco, and sophomore Shane Groth, were second-team selections.

Hudson was selected second-team all-league for first base. Hudson had a much-improved batting average over last year, going from .255 to over .420.

"Hayden always came to practice with an upbeat attitude and is very much a team player," noted Hodges.

Rocco was recognized first-team all-league outfield and batted .352 on the season.

"Jacob's a great kid," said Hodges. "He's hard working and has a great attitude. I appreciate his hard work and athleticism that he brought to the team."

Groth earned second-team all-league pitcher. Groth took on a big responsibility as Sisters' No. 1 pitcher as a sophomore, and Hodges told The Nugget that Shane did a nice job of developing his skills in his first year of varsity play. Groth finished the season with a batting average of .420 and proved he could contribute on offense as well as defense.

"Shane has a strong arm and a good attitude," said Hodges. "I look for good things to come from him in the future. He took on a tough challenge against Marist and Pleasant Hill, who were two of the tough teams we faced in league this year."

Rounding out the all-league selections was Rodney Warner, who earned honorable mention.

"Rodney did a great job of filling in as catcher while Max (Stovall) was out with an arm injury," stated Hodges. "He also did a good job in the outfield. He's a pretty versatile guy."
