Sisters restaurant wins 'best-of-the-best' honors

Slick's Que Co., in Sisters, has been awarded top honors by the National Barbecue News and a listing in the Best-of-the-Best Barbecue Restaurants in America Guide.

Receiving hundreds of recommendations each year, the National Barbecue News awards the top honors to only those restaurants that pass strict quality, service and consistency tests that come unknown and unannounced prior to any consideration to the Best-of-the-Best listing.

Slick's was tested by affiliates of the National Barbecue News and consistently excelled in all areas. Reviewers also praised the atmosphere of the restaurant.

Kell Phelps, publisher of the National Barbecue News said, "the Best-of-the-Best Barbecue Restaurant Guide was set up to give recognition to the true barbecue 'joints' or places. The very first step in this process is to pass unscheduled taste and service tests. Not every place will make it past this first step. We actually turn down way more places than we accept into this elite barbecue group."

He went on to say, "I am very proud to recommend these places to anyone, and before I put my publication's reputation and barbecue expertise on the line, I will know what is being served at every place. The few judges that are approved to help with this task are extremely credible, travel many miles and judge based on years of experience with barbecue competitions, restaurants and the business aspect of barbecue.

"Slick's Que Co. had been on our radar map for a while, as we had heard talk about this new 'joint' but, being from South Georgia, it just took us a while to get the testing done.
