Sisters teen dies from injuries

Nina Blackmore of Sisters has died of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 20 near Black Butte Ranch on Tuesday morning, August 17. She was 18.

Joshua Herrin, 19, of Bend, was killed in the wreck.

First responders at about 7:25 a.m. found a 1999 Ford Escort on the north side of Highway 20 that had crashed into a large tree causing extensive damage to the vehicle. Fire personnel immediately started providing emergency medical treatment to the passengers and began extrication efforts.

The initial investigation indicates that Stacia Roberts, 23, of Bend, was driving eastbound on Highway 20 and failed to negotiate a right hand corner. The vehicle traveled across the on coming west bound lane of travel, leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

Roberts was transported to St. Charles Medical Center by ground ambulance with non life threatening injuries.

The front passenger, identified as Casey Hoyle, 20, of Bend was transported to St. Charles by ground ambulance with serious injuries.

Blackmore, a rear-seat passenger, was transported to St. Charles by Air Link. She died from her injuries on Wednesday.

Herrin, the second rear passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of this accident is under investigation by the Deschutes County Detectives Division.
