To the Editor:

I'd like to let everyone Sisters community know about a serious problem we are having here in our "not so small" little town.

Unfortunately, Hoyt's has experienced several break-ins this past year, the latest being over the past weekend.

Someone has severed our gate locks on three occasions to gain access to the lumber yard after hours. After the third time we purchased more substantial locks. The latest break-in was a result of ripping one of our gates apart.

The culprit is driving into our yard in the dark and loading up with lumber and plywood. Times are tough for Hoyt's these days. Building activity is slower then we have seen since the mid-80s. It's no secret that it is a struggle right now. So if anyone has any idea who might be committing these crimes, please give me a call or stop by to discuss. Also, I would appreciate it if you happen to be driving by the lumber yard after hours and you see any suspicious behavior like headlights or flashlights in the lumber yard, please call 911. Thanks for your help.

Tyler Hoyt
