News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Folk Festival is continuing the tradition of holding a drawing for a Breedlove guitar and Deering banjo at this year's festival.
Breedlove has donated a Deluxe Revival Series guitar with an aged Adirondack top and Oregon walnut back and sides. It has many features including herringbone purfling, a bone nut & saddle and a custom Sisters Folk Festival inlay. A masterpiece, the guitar's estimated retail value is $5,229.
The guitar is currently on display at Paulina Springs Books in Sisters.
A long-time supporter of the Sisters Folk Festival, Breedlove Guitar Company also sponsors an artist to perform at the festival each year. This year's Breedlove Sponsored Artist is the New York-based act The Makepeace Brothers. This band, known for their infectious harmonies and breezy "front-porch" riffs, recently returned from an international tour with Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz.
The Sisters Folk Festival has also received a Deering "Goodtime" banjo for the drawing again this year. With a satin finish, dark walnut inlays and a rock maple neck, this banjo produces a bright and sparkling sound that is further complemented by its sleek appearance. This instrument's estimated retail value, including gig bag, stands at $576.
"We want to make sure people realize they can buy tickets for the two drawings through our office now, and then later during the festival. Either of these instruments would be a great addition to any musician's collection," said Events Director Katy Yoder.
The drawing for both instruments will take place on Sunday, September 12, at the Village Green main stage tent.
"It's so rewarding to watch the winners hold their new guitar or banjo for the first time," said Yoder. "We can't thank Deering and Breedlove enough for their continued generosity."
