Chamber to host non-profit forums

The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce is set to host four free non-profit forums throughout this fall and early winter. The content is designed specifically for non-profit staff and board members. Business owners and all members of the community are invited to attend and translate the given information to apply to their organization.

The first session, on September 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce (291 E. Main Ave.) will focus on "Enhancing Sisters Country Collaboration."

Jan McGowan, a local non-profit consultant with more than 19 years of experience in the non-profit world, will facilitate. Attendees will not only learn about the benefits and hallmarks of collaboration, but explore and brainstorm possible concrete collaborations with other participants and organizations.

The Chamber of Commerce will also offer a "Fundraising Series for Central Oregon" with Bill Kemp. This is a three-part series on Tuesdays, October 12, October 26, and November 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce. Fundraising methods covered include donor analysis, annual appeals, major gifts, and events. Kemp has taught fundraising classes through COCC and The Nonprofit Association of Oregon. Kemp has over 25 years experience fundraising for a variety of non-profit organizations and is a certified fundraising executive.
