News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Fat tire enthusiasts will hit the trails on October 2-3 for the inaugural Sisters Mountain Bike Festival.
The event aims to celebrate mountain biking in Sisters with a chance to explore new trails in the Peterson Ridge Trail System - and to raise funds to expand the trail network.
Saturday's events include 22-, 37- and 50-mile signed and supported rides and a little kids' camp. Sunday offers a poker ride, shuttles to the top of Peterson Ridge for those who want to ride downhill and a shuttle to Cache Mountain for a spectacular ride to Scout Lake.
The full event includes a meal voucher to Thyme Restaurant or Three Creeks Brewing Co .; a ticket to Sisters Movie House; and music and drink at the brewery.
While the regular price is $125 ($99 for Sisters Trails Alliance members) for the entire event and $69 for Saturday only, any student enrolled in Sisters schools can participate in rides for $25.
Details and registration are available at www.sistersmountainbikefestival.com through September 29. Students should register as "children" and enter discount code "Outlaws."
Saturday registration accepted at Sisters Athletic Club from 8:30 p.m. to 11 a.m.
