Sisters Harvest Faire celebrates 35 years

Shoppers and treasure hunters will come to Sisters Saturday and Sunday, October 9-10 to seek out the wares of more than 150 juried vendors selling pottery, metal art, photography, painting, jewelry, clothing, furniture, home décor and more.

The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 35th annual Sisters Harvest Faire. The annual fair boasts two full days of hands-on activities, live entertainment, educational opportunities, food and old-fashioned fun.

This year there will be a Kids Zone presented by Sisters Park & Recreation District, complete with a pumpkin painting contest, basketball free throws and games.

An addition to this year's event is "From Timber to Turned Wood." A lumberjack competition will be held on the west end of Hood Avenue across from Les Schwab Tires. Three performances are set for Saturday: 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (see related story, page 3).

"The Sisters Harvest Faire is one of my favorite events to organize because it is unmatched in quality and unique arts and crafts," said Jeri Buckmann, events director for the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce.

The entertainment this year will feature the Moon Mountain Ramblers and the Sisters High School Jazz Band.

Local artists Michael and Linda Soeby will be featuring their hand-crafted Father Christmas figurines. Don Zylius, a local Sisters artist, will be showing his water color paintings and Leslie King from Abigail's on Main in Sisters will be selling scented soaps and lotions, handmade magnetic jewelry and clothing.

Another popular artist returning to the fair this year is Char Larkin, with dried floral arrangements and birdhouses.
