Boys soccer shuts out Sweet Home

The boys soccer team recorded a 7-0 shutout at Sweet Home on Thursday, September 30.

Sebastian Boehm scored off a deflected shot by Scott Everson 14 minutes into the game. The Huskies' keeper lost the ball, Boehm recovered it and punched it into the net for Sisters' first goal.

Sisters had several opportunities to score but couldn't finish. At the half the Outlaws held a 1-0 lead.

Scotty Bowen was on fire in the second half. Bowen scored four consecutive goals within a 15-minute period to push the Outlaws to a 5-0 advantage. Bowen's first shot was straight up the middle off a Freddy Gonzalez assist and the second was a high shot to the corner thanks to a great pass from Tim Hernandez. Bowen's hat trick came off an assist by Jake Laskin, and in the 59th minute Bowen rebounded a deflected shot and put it in for the goal.

Robert Small scored with six minutes left in the game. The keeper lost the ball just outside the goal and Boehm crossed it just in front of the box to Small, who knocked it in for the goal.

Nathan Roy scored on a PK with two minutes left on the clock and Sisters put a win in the record books. The victory puts Sisters at 2-1 in league and 4-3 overall.

Coach Rob Jensen told The Nugget he felt his team came out a bit sluggish in the first half and weren't able to take advantage of their shots on goal. Jensen noted that the Outlaws out-shot the Huskies by more than 40 for the game.

Jensen stated, "The second half was much better with energy and movement without the ball. Passes were crisper and we took advantage of easy scoring opportunities. Obviously, Scotty Bowen had a huge game for us offensively. Scott (Everson) dictated the flow of the second half by starting out with a lot of energy, and he made some key passes to get things going."

Everson commented on the Outlaws' defense and the teams aspirations for the season.

"Our defense is really strong this year," he said. "We're all experienced, strong players and we have excellent chemistry. We focus on each game as it comes and try to get better every game we play. Our goal is to win league and go on to state."

The Outlaws host the Junction City Tigers on Wednesday, October 6.
