News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters City Council Candidates Forum is set for Thursday, October 21, at 7 p.m. at the Sisters High School Auditorium. The forum is being hosted by the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce.
Sisters Country residents are urged to submit questions for the candidates by Monday, October 18, to
[email protected] Submissions will be combined into a set of commonly asked questions which moderator Jim Cornelius will ask each of the candidates during the forum.
The forum is an opportunity for Sisters Country residents to listen to the views of the six candidates running for a seat on the Sisters City Council. The audience will not be allowed to address the candidates; the format is listening-only. Each candidate will have an opportunity to address the audience and each will be asked the same questions by the moderator.
Three of five councilors will be elected this November by city residents. Mayor Lon Kellstrom and Councilor Pat Thompson's terms continue through 2012, while the terms of Council President Bill Merrill and Councilors Sharlene Weed and Jerry Bogart expire this year. Weed and Bogart are running for re-election, while Merrill has chosen not to run.
The four new candidates who have filed to run for a council seat are Wendy Holzman, David Asson, Virginia Lindsey, and Jacki Shepardson.
Questions regarding the city council candidate forum should be directed to Erin Borla, executive director of the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce at 541-549-0251 or [email protected]
