News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws soccer team continued their domination in the Sky-Em league last week with a 9-1 win over Elmira on Monday, October 4, and a 4-1 victory at Junction City (JC) two days later.
In Monday's game against Elmira Jodie Reoch and Marin Allen both recorded a hat trick to lead the Outlaws to victory.
Haley Carlson scored Sisters' first goal three minutes into the contest, and just minutes later Marin Allen knocked in her first goal of the night to give the Outlaws a 2-0 lead. At the 20-minute mark, Allen took a pass from Natalie Ambrose, went one-on-one with the keeper and pushed Sisters to a 3-0 advantage.
Jodie Reoch wrapped up Sisters' first-half scoring thanks to an assist from Hannah Saraceno. Reoch went head-to-head with the keeper and knocked in it for the goal.
Sisters held the Falcons at bay and at the half held a 4-0 lead.
The Outlaws tacked on five more goals in the second half, including a penalty kick from Michele Young in the first minute of the second half.
The Falcons scored their lone goal early in the second half.
"They (Elmira) scored on a fluke goal," said Coach Nik Goertzen. "It ricocheted three to four times before it went into the goal."
Forward Harley Bowler said, "Our confidence is building with every win, but we still know that anything can happen in a game, so we come out strong and try to be prepared for the unexpected."
Michelle Young added, "I'm so proud of our team. We've had a phenomenal start and have got the momentum. I hope we can use this momentum to continue on our record-breaking season."
Two days later the Lady Outlaws recorded a 4-1 win over league rival, Junction City.
Natalie Ambrose booted one up and over the keeper's head for an unassisted goal to get the Outlaws on the scoreboard just two minutes into the game. Fourteen minutes later Jodie Reoch ran down the right side and crossed it over to Haley Carlson. Carlson, with a two-touch, finished to the left of the keeper and Sisters went up 2-0.
Reoch scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway at the 20-minute mark to push the Outlaws to a 3-0 advantage.
"After that goal you could see they (JC) were done," said Goertzen. "We relaxed a bit and gave up a corner kick. During that kick one of our defensive players touched the ball with her hand and was red-carded and removed for the remainder of the game, and they scored on the PK."
The win pushes the Outlaws for the first time ever to a perfect 9-0 overall record, and 6-0 in league.
