Sisters schools to honor veterans

Sisters High School will welcome veterans, family members and friends at the 12th annual Veterans Day ceremonies on Wednesday, November 10. The first ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. and the evening ceremony will be held at 7 p.m.

Pat Bowe is the guest of honor. Bowe was born and raised in Beaverton, Oregon, and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1963. In 1965 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam as a combat jumper.

He was awarded one Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.

In 1995 he returned to school at Western Baptist College and earned his bachelor's degree. He then worked for the Keizer Police Department, followed by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Now retired, he has been married to his wife Sandy for 42 years, has two grown sons and five grandchildren.

A breakfast for all veterans and their families will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the lecture/drama room at the high school.

To display service-related memorabilia, arrive at 8:30 a.m. to set up in the commons for everyone to view.

After the ceremonies there will be a reception held in the library of the high school. Cookies and refreshments will be served.

The Sisters Middle School Veterans Day Assembly will be on November 10, at 2 p.m. Veterans and community members are invited to attend.

Sisters Christian Academy invites veterans and their families to their annual Veterans Day chapel November 10 at 2 p.m. at Sisters Community Church. For information call 541-549-4133.
