News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sisters Community Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Annual Christmas Parade on Friday and Saturday, November 26-27 in downtown Sisters.
For the sixth year, the Deschutes Land Trust, Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sisters have worked together to bring a beautiful 30-foot white fir to Barclay Park. The annual lighting ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 26, and will include carolers, the bell choir, speeches from local dignitaries and hot cocoa and popcorn.
This year each attendee is asked to bring a can of food to donate to the Kiwanis Food Bank.
"Sisters Country is an amazing place to live," said Mayor Lon Kellstrom. "I look forward to the annual Sisters Country Cowboy Christmas activities, and the tree lighting in particular, every year. It is such a great way to showcase all of the unique elements of our diverse community."
The annual Christmas parade down Hood Avenue begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 27. This annual tradition features dozens of floats and entries. Chamber staff and volunteers will host photos with Santa Claus at the Sisters Chamber office (291 E. Main Ave.) after the parade.
The tree lighting and parade are a part of the annual Cowboy Christmas hosted by the Sisters Area Chamber. For a complete Cowboy Christmas calendar of events visit http://www.sisterscountry.com or call 541-549-0251.
