News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Several Sisters youths spent months creating a haunted house in a barn northeast of Sisters. After providing spooky thrills on Halloween, they created warmer feelings by donating their proceeds to the Kiwanis Food Bank.
Eighth graders Ben Larson, Billy Biggers, and Tristan Lewis started their haunted house design in July. They juggled school, sports and homework to get it done in time for Halloween. The haunted house was in the Larson's barn off Camp Polk Road.
The youths knew they wanted to donate the proceeds to a charity. They picked the food bank because it's close to the holidays and people need food assistance. The boys collected 92 pounds of food and $234 cash. Naomi Rowe, the food bank coordinator, said the food and money together is a value of $326 for the food bank.
Almost 100 people went through the haunted house over two nights. Other boys helped as actors in the haunted house: Jake Larson, Brendan Lewis, Jonathon Bertagna, Connor Schaab, Tyson Gill and Artem Biggers.
The boys thanked everyone who participated and supported the Sisters Food Bank. They are proud of what they accomplished, and are already planning for next year.
