Big prizes offered in lacrosse bingo night

Kimberly Gorayeb has a passion for the sport of lacrosse - and for bringing families together for the fun of a night playing bingo.

For the past four years, she's put the two together in fundraising events that have netted thousands of dollars to support the fast-growing Outlaws lacrosse program in Sisters.

This year, Gorayeb has expanded Sisters' family bingo play to three nights "during the winter months when there's not a lot going on."

The first bingo night will be held Wednesday, January 12, at Sisters High School.

"The prize packages are really fantastic," she said.

Local merchants and professionals have donated products and/or services to make up the prize packages, which have values above $100.

For $15 per person, players get 10 games with the chance to win a prize package and a "blackout" game with a grand prize of a full day of boating and wakeboarding on Lake Billy Chinook. (For the bingo novice, a blackout game is where the entire board is filled, not just one line.)

Gorayeb emphasizes that the fundraiser is a family event, with pizza (proceeds beyond cost also support the lacrosse program) offering a chance for folks to get together and have a little fun on a winter's night.

"People aren't going to be there late in the night," she said. "Probably it's going to run 6 to 8 p.m. max."

Doors open at 5 p.m.

The next two bingo nights are scheduled for February 9 and March 9.
