The Lady Outlaws went one for three at the annual Sisters Holiday Tournament, held Tuesday and Wednesday, December 28-29. Sisters fell to Philomath on Tuesday, and on Wednesday topped LaGrande by 11 and then lost to Crook County in their final game of the tourney.
Sisters played a solid game against Philomath but lost the battle 59-53. At the half the Outlaws trailed by just one point, 25-24. The girls had a mental lapse in the third quarter and were outscored 28-12. The Outlaws were unable to dig out of their third-quarter deficit in the fourth quarter, and lost the contest by six.
Several Outlaws finished in double digits. Carissa Kernutt led the Outlaws with 14 points, followed by Taylor Nieri and Chelsie McConville, who both contributed 13. Marin Allen recorded 10 points in the game.
Philomath's Marshall and Grunwald combined for 38 points.
Sisters got off to a great start on Wednesday with a 74-63 win over LaGrande. McConville had a spectacular performance and led the team with 21 points, including three three-pointers, and was a perfect 16/16 from the line.
Nieri and Allen recorded 13 points each, Sammy Kaiser posted eight points and Elise Herron added seven.
The Outlaws had an overall strong performance, and as a team went 30/32 from the line.
Sisters lost 61-54 to Crook County in their final game.
Referees called 56 fouls which resulted in 74 shots from the free throw line. The game came down to the Cowgirls hitting more shots at the line.
McConville posted 15 points in the game and Nieri added 14. Both Allen and Kernutt scored seven.
The Outlaws are currently 3-7 overall. They were to host Stayton on Tuesday,
January 4.
