News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Wy'East Resource Conservation & Development Council recently announced that Bill Mintiens has been named executive director of the non-profit, replacing Debbe Chadwick who is leaving to become district manager with the Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District.
Mintiens joined Wy'East in May of 2010 as public affairs specialist. In his new role he will be responsible for organizational leadership and growth while building partnerships that expand Wy'East's projects and programs throughout the service area of Deschutes, Jefferson, Crook, Wasco, Hood River, and Sherman counties.
A Sisters resident since 1992, Mintiens brings to the position a wealth of marketing and business experience. Early in his career he spent many years in the athletic footwear industry with Nike, Adidas and Converse. Since moving to Central Oregon, Mintiens has held management positions in magazine and book publishing, high tech, and community banking.
The Wy'East Resource Conservation & Development Area Council, a community-based non-profit, helps rural communities become sustainable by enhancing and building social, economic, and natural resources in its service area - the Columbia River Gorge, Mid-Columbia, and Central Oregon regions. There are eight RC&D councils in the state of Oregon, approximately 350 country-wide.
