News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Outlaws dropped their first league game of the season to the Sweet Home Huskies in a final score of 65-57.
Sisters started off strong and were ahead 18-13 at the close of the first quarter. Sisters pushed their lead to 32-24 at the half. The Outlaws lost the lead early in the third quarter, found themselves in foul trouble and had trouble on defense. Sisters was outscored 41-23 in the second half and lost the contest by eight.
Coach Rand Runco said, "We played very hard the first half, just not in our tempo. We transitioned early in the game and got some easy looks and continued to shoot the ball a little too quickly during the game, which forced us to spend a lot of time on defense.
"Sweet Home has a very good player (Kaufmann) who we held in check with great defense, but when we had to go to zone he really hurt us," added Runco. "We did not play poorly, we just did not play in our tempo and our defensive effort was not up to par."
Kaufmann finished the night with 25 points for the Huskies.
John Erickson led the Outlaws with 24 points and Eli Harrison put up 12. Jalen Miller contributed 10 points, Sebastian Boehm had six, and Jordan Hodges added five.
The Outlaws will play at Cottage Grove on Friday. Game time is set for 5:45 p.m.
