Pursuing 'radiant health' in Sisters

Sheree Gillaspie has a passion for helping people achieve radiant health and peak wellness.

"For years and years, I've always been interested in fitness and health," Gillaspie says.

She's been an aerobics instructor and a personal trainer - and now she is helping people across the nation discover the benefits of strong nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices through her Sisters business, Pure Life Living.

Pure Life Living offers customized comprehensive nutrition, weight loss, and healthy makeovers that help clients boost energy, lose body fat and increase muscle, improve sleep and digestion, and decrease pain and inflammation.

Every one of us is unique, so no one diet works for everyone. Gillaspie, a certified Nutritional Therapist (Nutritional Therapy Association), customizes a pure diet that works for each client specifically, and develops a food plan around her clients' goals and their bodies' bio-individuality. Programs are offered in person or over the phone from anywhere in the world.

"I really enjoy helping people," she says. "I get a lot of satisfaction out of seeing someone get excited about (healthy living)."

As is the case with many healers, Gillaspie began her current journey in an effort to heal herself. Diagnosed with acid reflux, she found that medications were not effective in treating her condition.

"I learned to heal myself with food," she recalled.

Gillaspie began to study the effects of diet on the digestive and immune systems, on cholesterol, and diabetes and a wide range of health conditions.

"It's amazing what you can do with food and supplementation," she said.

Sheree has a master's degree in nutrition, and in addition to being a certified nutritional therapist, she is a certified healing food specialist, a certified food psychology coach, wellness and life coach.

Gillaspie has traveled a long and winding road to arrive at her current role in the Sisters wellness community.

Thirty years ago, she and Rick Gillaspie got married in Camp Sherman. They've always loved the Sisters Country and, though their journeys took them far away, "we always swore we'd be back."

There was a sojourn in Alaska, some time in Eugene and a while in Illinois while Sheree tried the climb up the corporate ladder.

But the pull of the Sisters Country proved irresistible, and the couple returned here five years ago, where Sheree is pursuing her passion for helping others.

The business also includes a unique food product. Pure Life Living offers three blends of Organic Cultured Vegetables - Garden Blend, Spicy Blend and Beet Blend. Eating cultured vegetables with every meal can make dramatic changes to your health, providing significant support for the immune system. They may be purchased by calling or e-mailing Pure Life Living or visiting Angeline's Bakery.

Gillaspie also plans to provide pickup service for locally grown produce through Central Oregon Locavore, http://www.localfoodmarketplace.com/bend.

It's all part of Sheree Gillaspie's effort to fill an important niche in what she describes as "a strong wellness community in Sisters."

Pure Life Living is located in offices above Thyme Restaurant in the FivePine Campus. For more information visit http://www.purelifeliving.com; e-mail [email protected]
