Soccer players earn All State recognition

For the first time in Sisters High School history, the girls' soccer team had three players named to the 4A First Team All State soccer team. Senior Marin Allen and juniors, Jodie Reoch and Sara Small earned the honors in the wake of a stellar season that saw the girls go to the state championships.

It is quite an accomplishment and recognition for the smallest school represented in last season's playoffs.

Allen earned First Team All State on offense as a forward. Marin was a force at the striker position for the Outlaws and is the all-time leading scorer. Allen scored 19 goals over the course of the season, four of which were unassisted. She also dished out seven assists.

Reoch earned top recognition as a forward and midfielder. Reoch was also a threat at striker due largely to her speed and agility. Jodie scored 22 goals for the Outlaws, eight of which were unassisted, and she also recorded eight assists on the year.

Small was named First Team as keeper on defense. Small gave her all to protect the goal and kept the Outlaws' opponents scoreless in several games. Sara had 83 saves on the year and only allowed three goals to be scored over the course of the season.

Coach Nik Goertzen was thrilled with the top honors these girls received.

"As their coach I am very, very proud of all three of them," Goertzen said. "They are wholeheartedly deserving and have worked extremely hard to get to this point. They brought recognition to Sisters High School and put us on the soccer map."

Goertzen added, "To be nominated and recognized by coaches from all over the state is really saying something, but to have three players in the top 11 First Teamers is unheard of, in any sport at any level."
