Accounting firm expands practice to Sisters

Robert A. Goetz saw a need for his accounting services in Sisters, so he brought Alpine Accounting Services to Cascade Station, 411 E. Cascade Ave.

The Bend accountant (EA LTC) is in Sisters regularly on Mondays, and will also be available here by appointment.

An accountant and tax-preparation specialist of more than 20 years experience, Goetz moved to Central Oregon from La Mirada, California, several years ago.

"My wife and I had just had our first child," he recalled. "We weren't looking to escape California, but we thought if there was an opportunity here, we'd check it out."

Goetz' wife's father had grown up in Bend and retired there, and Goetz said with a grin that he did everything he could to persuade the family to relocate with the new grandchild.

Goetz said he was encouraged to venture to Sisters by local businessman Darren Layne.

Goetz believes he offers the community valuable experience and knowledge at reasonable rates.

"I don't have a lot of overhead here, so that creates... cost efficiencies," he said.

Goetz is seeking book keeping and payroll clients as well as those in need of tax preparation services. He is particularly expert at multi-state filings. He notes that his fee includes a year of advice.

"I like to help people," Goetz told The Nugget. "Taxes are a complicated issue and people are oftentimes frustrated with the complexity of tax laws. I can work through them and make them simplified for them."
