News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Legendary Americana artist and songwriter Tom Russell will perform at Sisters High School on Friday, February 4, in the second installment of the Sisters Folk Festival's Winter Concert Series.
Russell, with Dave Alvin, is credited with helping to create the Americana radio format.
"It is rare indeed when a songwriter is so strong in his own unique voice and style that they redefine the music boundaries that are in place. This is Tom Russell," said Sisters Folk Festival Executive Director Brad Tisdel.
The series concludes with Moira Smiley & VOCO on Friday, February 25. Moira Smiley leads an ensemble of extraordinary musicians who share a passion for powerful, emotional music with lush four-part vocal harmony. Named the No. 1 a cappella group in the U.S. in 2007, VOCO has the energy of street singing and the elegance of a string quartet.
