News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
A traffic stop near Sisters led to the arrest of a Bend man on heroin possession charges.
On January 28, at about 10:25 p.m., Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Street Crimes Unit Detectives and Patrol Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a green 1997 Subaru Legacy, being driven by David Robinson.
The location of the traffic stop was on Highway 20, just east of Jordan Road, in a rural area east of Sisters. There were no passengers in the vehicle. The traffic stop was part of an ongoing heroin investigation.
Robinson was found to be in possession of approximately half of one ounce of heroin (about 15 grams), $1,292 in U.S. currency, numerous hypodermic needles and a small amount of marijuana at the traffic stop location.
A subsequent search of Robinson's residence in Bend led detectives to discover two firearms and numerous items of paraphernalia. The firearms located were a 12-gauge shotgun and a .45-caliber, semiautomatic handgun. The .45-caliber handgun was found to be a stolen firearm from a 2010 Bend burglary. The half-ounce of heroin has an approximate street value in the Central Oregon area of $3,000.
Robinson was booked at the Deschutes County Jail for the unlawful possession, delivery and manufacture of heroin. The investigation into the stolen firearm is ongoing.
