News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Doug and Sue Wills:
We are part-time residents of Sisters and Newport and would like to say a big thank you to the merchants in Sisters for their contribution to the "Sisters Package" that was auctioned at the 6th annual Jazz in January fundraiser. The Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses raises money to support and maintain the two historic lighthouse in Newport. This year we raised over $6,000 and the "Sisters Package" was our number-one seller. Our goal with this package is to get more folks to visit Sisters, and with the "Sisters Package" donations from last year and this year, we have done that.
We would like to thank Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, Three Creeks Brewing Co., Gary Albertson Gallery, Sisters Coffee Company, Mackenzie Creek Mercantile, Sisters Olive and Nut Company, Flowers by Deanna, Donterra Gallery, and The Culver House.
Kelly Sheets:
Being new to town, I participated for the first time with the amazing group that organizes and runs the Sisters Folk Festival when Tom Russell was in town. I was so impressed with the upbeat, organized and professional vibe of the whole group from the board members through to the student volunteers.
The event was a great success not only in the turnout but it felt fantastic to be part of a group of people that is obviously willing to put forth effort and passion to create a strong, rich community. Thanks to everyone who participated and shared an exciting side of Sisters with me that night! Looking forward to more like it.
