'Pub talks' coming to town

Three Creeks Brewing Co. will host "pub talks" on subjects ranging from forestry to the economy next week.

Barbara Bond of the OSU College of Forestry will present "Views from the Middle of the Mountains" on Tuesday, March 15. Tucked in the western Cascades between Eugene and Sisters, the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest has been a hotbed for forest ecosystems research for decades.

Both vilified and glorified for the research it put out in the late 20th century, the Andrews Forest has inexorably changed the way we understand and manage forests and forest streams.

The presentation will allow Bond to share her views about recent and current research in the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, and how it is as much about people as it is about the forest. Networking starts around 5:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations are required; admission is free.

On Thursday, March 17, for the first time ever, the EDCO Pub Talk series is making a trek outside of Bend and visiting Three Creeks Brewing Co. The pub talk presents a forum for small businesses to present to potential investors as well as for professional networking. Networking begins at 5 p.m. presentations from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $15 for EDCO members, and $25 for non-members. Visit http://www.edcoinfo.com for information.
