News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Mike Krumvieda was born in Canistota, South Dakota. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served proudly during WWII, earning the rank of Pharmacist's Mate Second Class. Shortly after he left the service, Mike entered the building profession and maintained his contractor's license for over 50 years. His life's journey took him to projects in California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, British Columbia, Costa Rica and throughout the state of Oregon.
Mike was a man who found happiness in many places. He and his wife Joy were enthusiastic RVers who usually detoured to Texas to visit family members. Elk hunting trips with his son John were a great source of contentment and pride. Mike shined at neighborhood get-togethers, where he regaled his eager audiences with intriguing stories, punctuated by jokes that were not always suitable for younger ears.
Mike was a sturdy thread in the fabric of the Junipine Acres community. He defined reliability and gave freely of his time and expertise to his neighbors. There was always a feeling of relief when Mike drove up on his tractor with his faithful companion Sydney.
Mike is survived by his wife Joy; daughter Karen Olsen and husband Tom; son John and wife Suzanne; son Kevin and wife Tonya; grandchildren Ian Anderson and wife Dona, Kyle and Kayla Krumvieda, and Bryce, Rielly and Parker Krumvieda; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; stepdaughter Marcy Ball and husband Ken; grandchildren Jolynn, Kaylene, Jeb and Bethann of Perryton, Texas; brother-in-law Duane Van Woert and wife Donita; sister-in-law Betty Jo Hagman and husband Bob. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helena and brothers Kenny and Alvin.
