Sisters riders make strong showing

Sisters High School OHSET athletes made another strong showing at the second district meet held at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center March 25-27.

The first three places in Hunt Seat Over Fences and in Dressage were captured by Sisters riders, as was second place in Saddle Seat Equitation. Other top-three finishes in individual events occurred in Driving, Reining and Steer Daubing; top-ten finishes were nabbed in Hunt Seat Equitation, Showmanship, and Pole Bending.

Although the strength of Sisters OHSET is in the individual events, particularly the English riding classes, Head Coach Beth Jacobsen was pleased with the results of the team events. Team Penning, In-hand Obstacle Relay, Drill, Working Pairs, Bi-Rangle and Canadian Flags competitors all had Sisters teams in the top 10 places.

"We had strong placings in all the events," said Jacobsen. "The second meet went very smoothly on all levels. Our new athletes knew what to expect; it was a very good meet."

Samantha Novotny completed a flawless Hunt Seat Over Fences pattern that earned her the first placing, and freshman Autumn Saunders finished at the top of the dressage competition.

Jenna Jacobsen and Bobbi Jo Rosauer carted off first and second placings in the driving class and Rio Kindsfather continued her top form in steer daubing with a second-place finish.

OHSET teams are classified according to the number of team members. Large teams have 12 or more athletes, with Sisters fielding 13 members.

"We are looking forward to an even stronger third meet," said Jacobsen.

The final district meet will be April 15-17, at Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center.
