News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Boys golf has rough week

The boy's golf squad had a tough time at the Bend Golf and Country Club on Monday, April 18.

Sisters finished last out of the eight teams that were in attendance. Summit took first place with a team score of 321, and Crook County was runner-up at 332. Redmond shot three strokes behind Crook County to finish third (335).

Zach Cummings shot a 90 for Sisters, Nathan Pajutee carded a 92 and Jaxon Stark finished at 94. Tyler Berg carded a 117 and Dexter Muller rounded out the scoring at 198. The Outlaws finished with a team total of 591.

"We played poorly," said Coach Jeff Barton. "The weather conditions were good, so weather wasn't a factor, but the course proved to be pretty hard. We aren't used to playing a course that narrow and tight."

Two days later the Outlaws finished fifth at the Sweet Home Invitational, which was held at the Mallard Creek Golf Course.

McMinville posted a 317 to finish first, and Molalla was runner-up at 324. Stayton took third (356), Silverton fourth (365) and Sisters fifth at 367. Lebanon shot a 372 and Sweet Home carded a 380.

Nathan Pajutee carded an 84 to lead the Outlaws. Nathan shot a 44 on the front nine and improved by four strokes on the back nine for 40.

Zach Cummings posted a 91, Blake Martin a 94 and Jaxon Stark finished at 98. Tyler Berg rounded out the scoring with a 108.

Barton said, "We didn't play well and we only had four of our starters because one was out sick. And, as for most valley courses, this course was wet and greens were slow. No one on our team had ever played a course so wet, so that just added to our problems."

Sisters played about the same on Thursday, April 21, at the Crook County Invitational. The Outlaws took sixth place in the eight-team tournament. Summit took first at 322, Redmond second at 334 and Seaside posted 341 for a third-place finish. Remaining scores were as follows: Bend (354), Sisters (376), Mt. View (402) and Madras (453).

Nathan Pajutee posted an 87 to lead the Outlaws. Nathan played a very solid, consistent round with three pars on both the front and back nine. Zach Cummings carded a 92, Jaxon Stark a 95 and Tyler Berg finished at 102.

Next up for Sisters is the Summit Invitational at Broken Top on Thursday, April 28.
