Boys tennis comes out on top against Crook County

The Outlaws defeated the Cowboys at Crook County 5-2 on April 19, but suffered a tough 1-7 loss at home against Mt. View two days later.

In Tuesday's action, Luke Gnos and Devon Calvin recorded wins in singles play for the Outlaws. Gnos (No. 3 singles) beat Gabe Alvarez 6-4, 5-7, 10-3. Luke was up 5-4 in the second set but was unable to put the match away until the 10-point match break. Gnos finished out the match with solid ground strokes to earn the win.

Calvin beat Dakota Umbarger 6-0, 7-5.

In doubles' play, Colby Gilmore and Austin Williams (No. 1) defeated Josue Lopez and Jerad Anderson 7-5, 6-2 and Sam Quinn and Evan Rickards (No. 2) beat Buck Woodward and Cody Barney 6-1, 6-2.

No. 3 doubles (Trevor Standen and Alex Cristiano) and No. 4 doubles (JT Harris and Tyrell Gilmore) won by default.

Coach Garth Tosello said, "The doubles teams started slow but they came on with great shots from the net, along with well-placed angled ground strokes."

On Thursday, the Outlaws struggled on the court and recorded only one win in the match.

Colby Gilmore and Austin Williams (No. 1 doubles) beat Mason Martel and Nolan King 6-4, 6-2. Colby's serves and Williams' net play highlighted the match.

Next up for Sisters is a home match against Bend on Thursday, April 28.
