Quilt Show announces quilt challenge

Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show will host the inaugural Small Wonders Quilt Challenge and Exhibit. Small Wonders are quilts sized between 18 and 24 inches, donated to help raise money for the show and Sisters Park & Recreation District (SPRD). Quilters from all over the country have submitted more than 70 entries for the challenge. The Small Wonders quilts will be exhibited at the Sisters Library for the month of May. In July, the quilts will be sold and the quilt show will donate 25 percent of the proceeds to the Malone Scholarship Fund at SPRD. The Malone Fund supports recreational, sports and art programs and activities for Sisters youth.

The challenge offers five $100 prizes, donated by Stitchin' Post of Sisters. Four will be selected by a panel of judges and the fifth, a Viewer's Choice award, will be selected by the general public. Voting for Viewer's Choice begins May 2 and closes May 18. Ballot slips are available in the community room at Sisters Library. Library hours are Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. and Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The public is invited to a reception on Friday, May 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the library, where the challenge winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded. The library will open the community room for this event, even though the library is now closed on Fridays. Food for the event is donated by Los Agaves Mexican Grill of Sisters.

The Sisters Library is located at 110 N. Cedar St.
