News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Rimrock Sisters club volleyball "Fourteens" team made their presence felt in a 41-team tournament in Spokane, Washington, earlier this month.
The girls were seeded No. 3 in a 16-team bracket, winning their pool and keeping them in the upper division gold bracket. Bracket play began at 2 p.m. with a long road ahead: five games to the championship. The first four matches went to a third decision game, and the team proudly earned a spot in the 7 p.m. championship
game.
Having already played 19 games since their 8 a.m. start time, the girls dug deep within and played with teamwork and heart. A stellar championship match once again required a third decision game with a final score of 15 to 17, giving the girls second place.
Coach Tanya Johns told the team how impressed she was with their 100% effort and heart. The level of play was solid all day, challenging the girls to perform at a consistently high level.
Coach Miki McFadden proudly told the girls, "In my 43 years of coaching, I have never seen a team so positive and supportive on and off the court. You ladies know what being a team means. It's pretty awesome to be a part of it."
Teams were from Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
