News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sara Marcus, the daughter of Jeri and Bob Buckmann of Sisters, has been chosen as the 2011 Rodeo Queen of the Spray Rodeo.
Sara is 18 and a 2010 graduate of Sisters High School. She was a varsity competitor and co-captain of the Sisters High School Equestrian Team and an active member of the Tri-County High School Rodeo. In high school, she was on the cheerleading team and a junior varsity golf competitor.
Sara was four years old when she rode her first horse, Chelsea. Her riding experiences since then have given her the opportunity to win countless ribbons, a buckle, and multiple sportsmanship awards. She competed in the Pee Wee Rodeo Association through middle school and was chosen as the 2007 Pee Wee Rodeo Princess.
For many years, Sara has been an active member of the Sisters Rodeo Association, where she has volunteered at work parties and the Rodeo itself. She also volunteers for the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, supporting their efforts to bring visitors to the Sisters
Country.
Marcus is also a member of the Northwest Professional Rodeo Association, where she will continue her love for the sport of rodeo. Entering dozens of rodeos around the Northwest as a barrel racer, she will also be an ambassador representing the Spray Rodeo and the many people that make the rodeo possible each year.
Sara is currently studying criminal justice and psychology at Central Oregon Community College. After completing her degree, she plans to transfer to the University of Oregon to complete her bachelor's degree in psychology.
