Two vie for seat on school board

Two candidates are running for Position 4 on the Sisters School Board, a position that will be vacated by Jeff Smith, who has held that seat since 1999.

Ballots for the May 17 election go out this week.

Andrew Gorayeb and Cort Horner are vying for the open position; Christine Jones, the incumbent board chair, is running unopposed.

Both men have children in the school district and hope to help Sisters schools navigate through a budget crisis that has the district facing some $2 million in cuts.
