News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Stefan Redfield, a 2007 graduate of Sisters High School, was named as Willamette University's Male Athlete of the Year in a ceremony held at the Salem campus in late April.
Redfield lowered his best 1,500-meter time to 3:50.07 at Hayward Field in the University of Oregon's Twilight Meet, which moved him into second on the Bearcats' all-time list in the 1,500. The Willamette record was set in 2004 by U.S. Olympic runner Nick Symmonds.
Redfield, a senior, will compete in the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in June after graduating later this month. He is the son of Susanne and Randy Redfield of Sisters.
Wendy Birnbaum, one of the organizers of the Cinco de Mayo event at FivePine, salutes "the women who prepared the incredible food. The women work in housekeeping at FivePine Lodge and donated their time for three days and nights after work to buy, prepare and serve the food, then clean up. A huge thanks of appreciation to them and to FivePine for donating the space and these incredible women. They truly made it a magical cross-cultural event."
