â¯Airman Gonzalez Issac Antonio graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, on April 29.
He is currently attending tech school for security forces. Upon completion he will be stationed in Guam.
He graduated from Sisters High School in June 2010. His sister, Staff Sergeant Adriana Alfaro, has been serving her country for 12 years.
â¯Sisters High School 2002 graduates Lindsey Warner Overstreet and Brandon Overstreet recently graduated from the University of Wyoming. Lindsey received her master's degree in social work, Brandon received his master's degree in geology. They each were awarded Graduate Student of the Year in their respective fields.
â¯The Redmond Chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association awarded a $600 college scholarship to Sisters High School graduating senior Kelly Cole. Kelly is a member of the Redmond OHA, has participated in the chapter's nature and wildlife enhancement projects, and is an assistant hunters' education instructor. She plans to attend Western Oregon University this fall, majoring in elementary education.
â¯The Hispanic Coalition of Sisters and volunteers would like to thank everybody who supported and participated at the Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser Fiesta. With your help, the coalition raised $4,400, which will go to educational scholarships and summer programs at SPRD and community schools.
â¯Ross P. Erickson made the Dean's List at the University of Hartford for fall 2010.
â¯Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show sends a huge thank you to everyone who donated quilts for the first annual Small Wonders Challenge. Proceeds from the sale of the quilts will benefit Sisters Park & Recreation District and the show. Hats off to Jimmy and everyone at Los Agaves Mexican Grill for donating the fabulous food for Friday's reception & awards ceremony.
