Doris Shirley Brouillette, of Sisters, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home on Friday, May 20, 2011. She was 88.
Doris was born February 27, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Hester (Gibson) Ault.
Doris worked as a volunteer in Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, during the 1950s and 1960s.
Doris was an accomplished channel swimmer and diver, swimming the San Francisco Bay several times and cliff diving in Hawaii. Doris was also a bird lover and enjoyed feeding them. She was an avid reader, loved music, travelling the world, walking on the beach and the majestic
mountains.
Survivors include Doris' husband of 65 years, Robert; her daughters, Julie Shaw of Colorado, Terry Irick of California, and Robin Lewis of Bend. Other survivors include her sister Letta Mae Driscoll of Nevada; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Touchmark at Mt. Bachelor Village for being so wonderful to their wife and mother these past few years.
A private family service was held on May 23 in Bend.
