Martial arts participants move forward

Students of Master Marty Kaczmarek at Outlaw Martial Arts competed in the High Desert Tae Kwon Do Championships at the Acrovision Sports Center on Saturday, May 7, with the following results: Winning the Gold Medal for Poomsae in their respective belt divisions: Eli Johnson, Joel Fisher, Adam Maddox-Castle, Gavin Christian, Kate Friedli and Ms. Sherri Hermans. Poomsae is a series of defensive, counter and offensive techniques performed in a specific pattern. In class it's used to develop skill and proficiency. In competition, martial artists demonstrate their skill relative to competitors with the same level of experience.

Taking the Silver Medal in Poomsae: Shawn Kelm, Olivia King, Wyatt Warner, Kathy Warner, Austin Gulick and Tammy Haynes.

The Bronze Medal for Poomsae went to: Tate Kaczmarek, Nick Manley, Jaxon Barry, Hannah King and Zack Gulick.

In the sparring competition, the Gold Medal went to: Shawn Kelm, Gavin Christian, and Kate Friedli.

The Silver Medal was won by: Jaxon Barry, Olivia King, Austin Gulick and Adam Maddox-Castle.

Winners of Bronze Medals for Sparring were: Tate Kaczmarek, Nick Manley, Eli Johnson, Wyatt Warner, Hannah King and Zack Gulick.

On May 13, Outlaw Martial Arts held their monthly belt testing. Moving up to Yellow Belt were: Connor Bell, Eli Johnson, Gavin Christian, Hope Beckwith, KC Dolson, Sean Bell, Sabrina Dolson, Chris Gulick, Kristy Gulick, Jaxon Barry, Ashlyn Simpson, Alex Simpson, Olivia King, Adam Maddox-Castle, Corinn Ferwalt and Ethan Ferwalt.

Successfully testing for High Green Belt were: Hannah King and Hogan Warner. Achieving the rank of Green Belt were: Brendan Sickau, Shawn Kelm, Xavi West, Austin Gulick and Talia Simpson.

And passing their first belt test from White to White/Yellow Belt were: Oscar Rhett, Claudia Rincon, and Daniel Rincon.
