Sisters salutes...

• Three Sisters athletes turned in outstanding performances in the Junior Olympics.

Zoe Falk took first in the 1,500-meter run, first in the 800 meters and third in long jump. Brandon Pollard was first in the 1,500 and first in the 800. Maddi Boettner took in the 4x800-meter relay, third in the 800, and fourth in the 400 meters.

These places at the State Junior Olympics meet qualified them for the Regional Junior Olympics meet in Spokane, Washington, July 8-10.

• Lisa Young, finance and administrative director for the City of Sisters wrote: On behalf of the City of Sisters, I would like to express our gratitude to Gwen Chapman and Shawna Bell for their 3 years of public service on the City of Sisters Budget Committee. During their 3-year term, they both took on a leadership role as the budget chair; Gwen two years and Shawna one year. Staff appreciates your professionalism, insight, commitment, guidance and thoughtful analysis on the budgetary issues facing the city through the years.

Gwen and Shawna were presented with a certificate of appreciation by the mayor and city council on June 23, thanking them for their service to your community. I would like to thank them for their willingness to sacrifice their personal and family time to ensure the City of Sisters continues to be a great place to live, work and play for today and for the future.

• Pat Riddle wrote: A big thank you to all of the staff, volunteers and local contributors who made the annual Hospice Camp Sunrise for grieving children possible. The free camp provides an opportunity for children to grieve in a safe, supportive, confidential and understanding environment. Every year something magical happens at camp and children's lives are forever changed. None of this would be possible without the generosity and support of the Central Oregon community.
