Driver identified in fatal wreck

The driver in a fatal single-vehicle wreck on Three Creek Road on Tuesday has been identified as Anthony Hartford, 32, of Sisters.

According to Deschutes County Sheriffs Office reports, deputies and emergency personnel from the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Department responded to Three Creek Road at 2:19 a.m. on a report of a single vehicle crash.

Upon arrival deputies located a Volkswagen Jetta on the west side of Three Creek Road. Hartford was the only occupant of the vehicle and had been traveling northbound on Three Creek Road. The vehicle drifted to the soft shoulder of the northbound lane. The vehicle then swerved across into the southbound lane, eventually leaving the roadway and continuing into the wooded area striking a large tree causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

Hartford was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

This crash is still under investigation.
