Dora "Maxine" Fritch August 18, 1918 - August 5, 2011

Dora "Maxine" Fritch passed away on August 5 at Three Rivers Community Hospital, just 11 days shy of her 93rd birthday.

She was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon on August 18, 1918. After meeting her husband, Lynn Jay Fritch, she lived in Portland, Oregon, for several years. She and Jay built a home on Rogue River Highway near Savage Rapids Dam and lived there for several years.

After her husband's death, she purchased a mobile home in the town of Rogue River, where she donated her time to the RR Senior Citizen Center, helping with the hot-lunch program. She then moved to Sisters and lived with her grandson Melvin Herburger and his wife, Sandee, who provided loving care for her. She then moved back to Rogue River and lived at Morrow Heights Assisted Living Center for four more years, also receiving loving care while there.

Some of her favorite pastimes were playing Yahtzee and Bingo and writing letters to many of her friends and family. She is survived by three children: Patty Herburger of Sisters; Faye Daily of Rogue River; and Roy Fritch of Creswell. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

There will be no funeral services and she will be laid to rest with her husband, Jay, at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. An informal gathering was held in her honor at Palmerton Park in Rogue River on Tuesday, August 16.

Donations may be made to the Leo Tocher/Holter Memorial Fund at SOFCU Bank in Rogue River.
