Cork Cellars moves to new location

One of Sisters' favorite gathering places has moved.

Cork Cellars wine bar and shop is now inside Melvin's Fir Street Market at the corner of Fir Street and Hood Avenue. The new location is a little larger and more expansive.

"The configuration is actually a little better," said owner Nadean Murray.

There's better parking and a better kitchen, which means "I'll be able to offer a few more things on the menu." And, of course, there's lots of room for a broad selection of wine.

"I'll be carrying more wines," Murray announced.

The collaboration with Melvin's offers opportunities for food pairings and special events, Murray noted. She's also working on creating an outdoor patio which will be suitable for music events.

Those purchasing a bottle of wine before Cork Cellars is officially open at noon may do so, since the market opens at 8 a.m., and Melvin's will accommodate the Cork Cellars crowd by staying open till 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The location of Melvin's Fir Street Market and Cork Cellars at the former post office site means that a former hub of activity in downtown Sisters has been revived.
