•â¯There will be one Sisters home on the Green and Solar Home tour on October 1. The home, built by Sunterra Homes, is in Pine Meadow Village. Homes are open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

•â¯Award-winning author Melody Carlson has added another award to her impressive collection: "Anything but Normal" has been named the winner of the Carol Award in Young Adult Fiction by the Association of Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). The award was made on Saturday, September 24, at the ACFW Annual Awards Gala at the Hyatt Regency in St. Louis, Missouri.

•â¯Sisters artist Pam Jersey Bird collaborated with Bend artist Karen Bandy on a series of original paintings. They will exhibit the results of their contemporary creations on First Friday's Art Hop October 7 at Bandy's downtown Bend studio at 25 N.W. Minnesota Ave., Suite 5 in a show called "Hot Notes and Cool Rhythms."

•â¯Rosemarie Ostler will visit both Paulina Springs Books to give a talk based on her new book, "Slinging Mud: Rude Nicknames, Scurrilous Slogans, and Insulting Slang from Two Centuries of American Politics."

Ostler will appear at Paulina Springs Books in Sisters on Friday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. and at Paulina Springs Books in Redmond on Saturday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m.
