Wesley Dean Ringstad December 13, 1922 - September 19, 2011

Wesley Dean Ringstad, of Sisters, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Hospice House in Bend on September 19, 2011. He was 88.

Wesley was born December 13, 1922 in Everett, WA, to Emil and Minnie (Larson) Ringstad. He grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett High School. Wesley proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific as a combat engineer during World War II, as a first lieutenant, from 1942 to 1946.

Wesley attended the University of Washington, where he earned two bachelor's degrees in chemistry and business management. In 1949 Wesley met Carolyn Boone, and they were married on May 14, 1950 in Centralia, WA.

After graduating from college Wesley worked for the insurance industry and as a chemist for Portland Cement. Then he worked as the personnel manager for Fiberboard Industries in Sumner, WA, from 1956 to 1965, and then as the personnel manager for Boise Cascade in Salem, until retiring in 1982. Wesley and Carolyn moved to Central Oregon in 1986.

Wesley was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity in Sisters and enjoyed home improvement projects. He also enjoyed reading, traveling, camping, skiing and spending time with his family.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Sisters; sons Curtis (wife Barbara) Ringstad of Bend, and Steve (wife Tanya) Ringstad of Salem; his daughters, Kristi (husband David) Smith of West Linn, and Jennifer Ringstad (husband Paul Meissner) of Yonkers, NY. Other survivors include his brother, Roger Ringstad of Issaquah, WA; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Ringstad-Moss, of Bellingham, WA, Sam Ringstad, of Salem, Jacob Harper, of Bend, Tawnya Harper-Ogston of Portland, and Rita and Lynn Meissner of Yonkers, NY; and three great-grandchildren.

A private gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
